Story

Life had never been easy for Venus, despite her intelligence and caring friends. First, and forever, there were problems with her health,  Then, there were the problems with her her family; none of them were quite normal, although they were good people at heart.  She might have given up at an early age, except she met a wonderful man, just a little older than her.  They fell in love, and although he wasn't quite normal either, he provided her with the stability and support she needed to grow and mature.  Though their long relationship ended badly, she had overcome the hardships of her life and grown strong enough to survive on her own.  They remained friends, and eventually she married someone better suited for her.

Unfortunately, it seems that disaster flows through her life in cycles of about eight years:  she had health problems at birth, family problems when she was eight, and contracted a chronic illness when she was sixteen.  When her twenty-fifth birthday rolled around and nothing terrible had happened, she felt she might finally be safe from her personal curse.  Then the accident occurred.  The accident killed her entire family, but she was saved by some mysterious beings referring to themselves only as 'The Seraphim.'  They transplanted her brain in to a super-science cybernetic body.  Twentieth Century Earth technology cannot distinguish the body from a normal human body, and the only the on-board computer (OBC) lets Venus know she is no longer human.  In fact, everything she knows about her new body and the Seraphim, she has learned from the computer.

She discovered that the accident which killed her family and destroyed her life was the result of them being in the wrong place at the wrong time while two powerful factions of militants battled.  One faction fought for metahuman rights, and the other fought against it.  Venus declared war on both groups, and any rabidly fanatic morons who got in her way.

"Venus?"

The voice was pleasant.  A masculine soprano.  Venus couldn't see anything, but she was aware of the pain.  The dull throbing throughout her body.  It was the worst pain she had ever felt. Something like a hand touched her forehead and the pain eased.

"Venus?  I'm sorry to disturb you, but we must talk to you.  We are with the Seraphim."  She was aware of three presences in the room. Not necessarily people, but presences.  "You were in a grave accident.  Your injuries will prove fatal if we do not intervene. Normally, our intervention would be through a more mortal mediary. Unfortunately, our preferred agent - you know him as 'Mr. Gibson' - is on loan to another agency right now. Do you remember 'Mr. Gibson'?" There was a short pause as a face came in to her mind. Yes, she remembered. She had been engaged to him once, but the relationship ended badly. He had always been a little weird, but he never mentioned anything like this.

"I don't understand," she said, still unable to see anything.

"I regret that I must be brief. You have a very important, very complicated, purpose on Earth. You've only fulfilled part of it, and therefore we cannot permit you to pass on," the voice said in a soothing voice. "However, there is an additional complication. We owe 'Mr. Gibson' a favor, and he has called it in. We will have to remove you from this facility, and we will explain later."

A hand touched her forehead again and she felt her self pushed into slumber.

Campaign Role

Venus has obtained her Private Investigators License and become a bounty hunter.  Specifically, she hunts wanted criminals who belong to anti-metahuman groups like THAMF, but also criminal metahumans.

Personality

Despite all she has been through, Venus has managed to avoid becoming bitter.  She is angry, but not bitter.  She doesn't smile much anymore, and is enjoying her new status as a bounty hunter.

Abilities

Even before she became a cyborg, she had an incredible memory and studied computers, history, and many other subjects.  She simply loved learning.  With the advanced memory and communications abilities of her cyborg body, she has studied fields such as Architecture, Mathematics, Biochemistry, Genetics, Physiology, Electronics, and Cybernetics.  She has also built an extensive library of information on known metahumans and their enemies (like THAMF).

Her body contains several components which the OBC politely refuses to identify.  She suspects they may be weapons or communications tools, and would like to know before she needs them, or the Seraphim activate them for a hidden agenda.  The OBC seamlessly extends her own mental abilities, and does not have any kind of "independence" from her own thought processes.

Battle Tactics

Ambush when possible.  Never slug it out with any foe (well, almost never).  Never leave tracks.  She abhors explosives preferring the more surgical method provided by firearms.

Adventure Seed

One of the PCs (probably one of the mutants) has been targeted for purification by THAMF.  If the PC has a good reputation, Venus may contact him or her directly with a warning.  If the PC has a bad reputation, then Venus will likely stay behind the scenes, allowing THAMF to scare the PC before she takes THAMF apart.
