Background: The late 1980's showed a dramatic rise in the number of mutant humans and superhuman beings on Earth. In response, Genocide needed more powerful agents and equipment to wage its war against "those genetic aberrations." While the Mark V had served them well, and the Mark VII was the crowning achievement, there were potential problems with intelligent robots (e.g. Mechanon). Therefore, Genocide leadership called to it's scientific elite to propose new models of anti-mutant robots that would be as powerful, but and use more conventional weapons and computer brains. The Mark IX is the direct descendent of the Mark V.
Personality/Motivation: None, they are built to serve humans and capture or destroy mutants.

Powers/Tactics: The Minuteman Mark IX posses an enormous array of weapons, as well as great strength. The Mark IX has a massive database of known paranormals, and complex algorithms enabling to analyze new powers and abilities. While the robots do have the ability to network their computer brains and instantly share information, it was felt that built-in databases would be more durable under real combat conditions.
Unlike the Mark V or the immensely powerful Mark VII, the Mark IX has limited programming and ability for autonomous thought. So, while they can be effective, they also tend to be linear and eventually become predictable.
Appearance: The Mark IX is humanoid, about 28 feet tall. It is clearly robotic, with weapon ports all over its body. The color patterns vary by controlling base, but urban camouflage is typical. All have the Genocide logo on the chest and shoulders, and many are further decorated by the local base.
