Picture of Blazer by Scott Frank "Sure, I did the 'brawl. Got the scars to prove it too. It was the fastest way off the streets. I did thirty-five 'brawls before my contract was up. I spent most of my time in Chicago, but have done some 'brawls for the Tacoma Wings.

"I'm retired now. The extra arms were a publicity stunt by the Chicago Shatters. I got carried off the field after getting caught in one particularly nasty crossfire. As I was carried off, the media recorded me mumbling something about '...having gotten the fraggers if only I'd had more arms.' Couple of weeks later I was back in the 'brawl with two extra arms; the crowds ate it up and once I got used to them it actually helped my combat ability. In the majors they won't let you carry more than one pistol unless you want a penalty, but the benefits in melee are obvious."

Physically Blazer is 6'7", 270 lbs., with pale brown skin and bleached white hair. Whenever possible, he wears sunglasses and a scowl. He life has been combat, and he's taken to shadowrunning to alleviate the boredom of retirement. The only people he lets bad mouth him are his current employer and young children. Older kids and ex-employers get no slack.

Adventure Threads:

One:

This adventure assumes that Blazer hasn't retired yet. In fact, he's got about five more years to go. His public image has worn off and he doesn't command the respect he used to - except from his opponents, who are getting more and more viscious about how they try to eliminate him.

Blazer wants out of the circuit. He figures he'll never see the end of his contract, so he has only two options: die, or get a group of shadowrunners to extract him. He's not real fond of dying (that's why he wants to quit the circuit), so enter the Player Characters.

Blazer has arranged for a fixer to meet the PC's group. The fixer explains that a Pro-'Brawler wants to quit the circuit. The pay is 25,000 nuyen upon completion of the deal.

Two:

Blazer's opponents want to prevent Blazer from fighting in an upcoming 'brawl. They hire a Johnson to hire the PCs to "rough up that Blazer guy a little." They don't want him killed, just beat up enough that he can't compete.

Blazer and some of his teammates can be found at a local bar the night before the 'brawl. Remember that professional Urban Brawlers are all experienced hand-to-hand and close-quarters fighters.

Three:

Blazer has been retired for a few years, but he's got some old enemies. One of thsoe enemies is now a powerful political player using his clout to make life difficult for Blazer. Blazer wants to hire the PCs for a short-term job. This job could be bodyguard duty, a retaliatory strike against his old enemy or just finding blackmail information about this enemy.
