Angel of Death

She came in low and fast, like the Angel of Death on a mission from God.

But then, that's what she was. She was Valkyor Bren Siike - a Valkrye in the service of the Dullon in the Jihad against the T'laren. As a Valkrye, she had the best combat and espionage training in the Jihad, and the Valkrye hierarchy answered directly to the Dullon and it's Hands. They were outside the military structure.

She hit the outskirts of the city at Mach 2, power flooding through her armor's thrusters. She twisted her body as she approached the far end of the city, simultaneously breaking her speed and pulling up to watch as the tall glass and steel structures where ripped asunder by the wall of sound which raced to catch up with her. Watching the destruction gave her a grim satisfaction. She liked to pretend it was her home city on Kim'lar, where she and all women were treated as less than second class citizens. The screams of the dying T'laren were the screams of the vile patriarchs.

She reflexively called up the status monitor. Sure enough, she grinned, the maneuver had caused a 9% overall power drain, and a 13% efficiency loss in her armor's main thrusters. The Valkryie technicians hated her; her equipment spent more time down for repairs than any other of the Handmaidens. But, no other Valkryie could claim as many combat decorations as her either.

She completed her long spiraling roll, and dove at the city again. She had announced her presence in her trademark fashion, now it was time to get to serious business. She dove fast, and low to the government buildings. A plasma streamer mounted to each arm erupted in liquid flame only meters from the building. Siike tore through at 150 miles per hour, spraying plasma at anything and everything she passed. Vehicles exploded, statues melted, buildings burst in to flames, and the local peacekeepers became instant charcoal.

Within minutes, the conflict began in earnest. As the T'laren defenders began to rally against the lone Valkrye, the rest of the Jihad forces arrived, allowing Siike to blend in to the chaos. She had been hand picked by the Dullon himself to locate a secret T'laren project. Spies had indicated the T'laren might be developing a mechanism for time travel. Their goal was to send agents back in time to destroy the Dullen before the Jihad could begin. It was a fools folly, as everyone knew the Dullon had always been invulnerable, but the idea that the T'laren might posses time travel technology was a risk that could not be taken. That's why Siike was here. She was the best.

She located the underground base, but discovered that the T'laren had already sent commandoes back through time. She quickly dispatched the remaining guards and technicians, and using the advanced computer in her Valkrye battlesuit, she reprogrammed the machine to send her to the same time-space coordinates and overload the machine.

[she actually goes to Earth, while the T'laren are in Imperial space. She locates Dullon and observes him. The T'laren buy a ship (the Iron Spear), hire a KNIFE and launch towards Earth to kill Dullon. They arrive on Earth, and a battle ensues between Project: Superhero, the T'laren and their allies and Bren Siike. In the fighting, Siike is mortally wounded, but not before briefing the Dullon on what is to come. He then hires the KNIFE (by transferring ownership of the Iron Spear to him contingent upon completition of the mission) and takes Project: Superhero with him back to the Empire. Q.v. Timeline.]
