Imperial Frost-class Battlecruiser (TL10)
The Frost-class of interstellar warships were developed more than
two dozen generations ago, and have been in use ever since. The design
has proven to be sound and effective. The Frost-class has become
so common that the hangers on the
Planetcaster are specially designed to
accommodate this class of vehicle. The Frost-class must provide
a number of services. First and foremost is space supremacy. The
Frost is designed to command entire star systems with its huge gun
batteries and complements of combat craft. Also, the Frost
transports Army and scientific crews. A Frost is usually the
second craft to visit a newly discovered star-system, after the scouts.
In appearance, the Frost has a somewhat long, thin body. Weapons
are placed along the sides, and the usual battle tactic is to commit the
opponent to a position where it can be pummeled by a broadside volley from
the weapons on the side and bottom of the battlecruiser.
Distinguished Frost-class vessels include the Kinzon T'gao,
at the Defense of Tenab, and the Percheron Host, sacrificed to save
civilians from the dying colony world Hell.
The vessel is capable of carrying 600 Army ground combat troops and 1600
Army support staff. These passengers have their accommodations physically
separated from those of the crew and VIP passengers for security and discipline
reasons.
The vehicle design breaks down this way:
- Really huge.
- DR 20,000 standard ablative, DR 15,000 standard laminate over all exposed
surfaces. Armor is sloped as follows:
- 60-degree slope BoF, Su4F.
- 30-degree slope Su1F, Su2F, Su3F, Su3R, Su3L, Su4R, Su4L.
- Body, Superstructure 1 (BoF), Superstructure 2 (BoT), Superstructure 3 (BoU),
Superstructure 4 (Su2T)
- Body contains power plant, engines, life support, auxiliary bridge and crew
quarters.
- Su1 contains massive weapon and sensor arrays.
- Su2 contains main bridge, crew quarters and VIP passengers.
- Su3 contains combat vehicle hangers and accommodations for ground combat
troops.
- Su4 contains sensor arrays and non-combat vehicle hangers.
- Each structure has numerous turrets.
- Structure is made of Cheap, Extra-Heavy materials with the Robotic option.
- Vehicle hangers typically contain
- 28 fighters (Su3)
- 6 heavy shuttles (Su4)
- 12 light shuttles (1/2 Su 3, 1/2 Su4)
- 12 assault shuttles (1/2 Su 3, 1/2 Su4)
- 50 ground assault vehicles (Su4)
- 50 ground troop transport vehicles (Su4)
- 20 maintenance vehicles (Su4)

weapons.
- Five (5) Rechargeable Energy Banks provide for typical functions.
Weapon placement
- Each of the twenty (20) Quad-laser batteries consists of a Turret structure,
with 60 degree sloped armor (F, R, L, B). Each laser has full
stabilization, universal mount and cyberslave. The lasers are linked
by battery. There are three (3) batteries each F, R, L, T, U, and two
(2) B.
- Ten (10) laser cannon are mounted in turrets (same as the quad-laser battery).
Turrets are mounted 2 each F, R, L, T, U. The remaining 30 laser
cannon are mounted six (6) F, seven (7) each R, L, four (4) each T, U, and
two (2) B.
- Six (6) blasters are mounted in turrets (same as the quad-laser battery).
Turrets are mounted three (3) each R, L. The remaining 26 blasters
are mounted four (4) F, eight (8) each R, L, three (3) each T, U, and two
(2) B.
Sensors and Electronics
- Two (2) Radar packages mounted F, each with 130,000 mile range and AESA option.
- Two (2) Radar packages mounted each R, L, T, U with 50,000 mile range and
AESA option.
- Two (2) Radar packages mounted B, each with 25,000 mile range and AESA option.
- Two (2) PESA each with 15,000 mile range.
- One hundred (100) Communicators with Medium Range and Scrambler.
- One hundred (100) Communicators with Short Range with Tight Beam option and
Scrambler.
