Morpheus Unbound | House Rules
The hard reality behind physics is that as a human body increases in size, the strength of the muscles increases as the surface area while the weight increases by volume. This results in a table like that below. Since the V&V rules tie Carrying Capacity to weight, this artifact of reality has been ignored for ease of play and to support the spirit of four-color gaming. The rules presented here might be added to a campaign if you want the added reality, or it might work well as a Physical Handicap for a character with Size Change: Larger.
A disadvantage that is relevant to the game mechanics is that when the character's weight exceeds his Carrying Capacity, the difference must be subtracted from his effective Carrying Capacity for practically all purposes, including HTH damage, lifting and jumping. If the character's weight is twice his Carrying Capacity, the character can no longer lift his own body and is effectively immobilized.
The Sample assumes a strong character with Strength 15, Endurance 12 and Weight of 200 pounds. It's easy to see how quickly a "realistic" giant can be quickly overwhelmed by his own body mass.
