Pulsecat

(a.k.a. Wendy Brooks, see Normals Unbound)

Created 1997 by P. Rogers.

Colin Thompson (a.k.a. Hardware) was visiting Homestead one day and met the young Wendy Brooks (q.v. Normals Unbound). Wendy wanted to impress the famous scientist, so she explained that she was really Defender's protégé and was merely temping as the housekeeper until her power armor was finished. But, because of all the supervillains constantly requiring Defender's time, she didn't expect it to ever be finished.

Somewhat distracted by other matters and enchanted by the perky Miss Brooks, Thompson was taken in completely by the ruse.

When he returned to PRIMUS, Thompson sat down at his CAD workstation and designed a cybernetic battlesuit based on the ideas Wendy had given him. Whenever possible, he tried to use "off-the-shelf" technology to reduce costs (there are no innovations in the suit at all). When he was finished, he made some phone calls and sent the design off to R&D to have three prototypes built.

Four months after she met Dr. Thompson, Wendy Brooks received a special package via UPS. Contained within was one of the prototype battlesuits and a note explaining that Silver Avenger Matherson had approved the field testing of the battlesuit by Wendy Brooks. However, because of the special arrangements, Wendy had to maintain the utmost secrecy about its origin.

Wendy tried on the new battlesuit - another fine creation of CAT Designworks - and Pulsecat was born! (Needless to say, Defender is not happy.)
