   Soap or Detergent?

There are two important things you need to consider before deciding what soap products you are going to use on your skin. One is, what they are, and the second, and maybe more important, is what they are not.

Since our soap bars are handcrafted in small quantities, and are not intended to sit on store shelves for long periods of time, they are not filled with preservatives. And because they are made of natural/organic ingredients whenever possible, they are as pesticide and chemical free as possible.

Our soap bars are also not a detergent. Many commercial bars are actually a detergent bar. The distinction may not seem to be important until you realize that detergents are a petroleum derivative. Detergents came into widespread use during World War II as the answer to vegetable oil and animal fat shortages and their use has continued because for removing dirt and oils, they were sometimes as good or better than soap - and much cheaper to produce. However, the same properties that make detergents good cleaning agents, also make them harsh and drying to your skin.

True soap is made from either animal or vegetable oils. At Aurora Bar-ealis, we choose to use only skin beneficial vegetable oils. We feel confident that your skin will notice the difference right away.

In line with our philosophy of trying to give our customers only the best possible products available, a precautionary note is necessary. While the ingredients we use are the "healthiest" available, this does not mean that they can be used with abandon. Essential oils and botanicals are components of our products, and these most potent of nature's blessings can cause skin irritations in some people. You are encouraged to do a patch test before using a new product for the first time.

If you should have any questions, concerns or dissatisfaction with any of our products, please contact us immediately. We will always have a 100% satisfaction guarantee policy.
