Welcome! Please come inside and look around. Aurora Bar-ealis is the fulfillment of a dream of mine; it is a labor of love. Please let me share my interests with you: my love to create, my love of making natural body care products, my love of nature and my love of Alaska. All of these loves of mine have come together for me in Aurora Bar-ealis and I hope it shows. The products of Aurora Bar-ealis are formulated and created by hand, in my one-person workshop near Wasilla, Alaska. Wasilla is located in the beautiful Matanuska-Susitna Valley, approximately 45 miles northeast of Anchorage. Surrounded on three sides by beautiful mountain ranges, and opening on the southwest to Knik Arm, (the northernmost "finger" of Cook Inlet) the Mat-Su Valley (as it is affectionately nicknamed) is truly a beautiful place to live and make body care products inspired by nature. I have an abundance of information on the geography, history and people of the Mat-Su Valley as well as Alaska in general that I would like to share with you, so please be sure to check out our "News and Information" page, but first, a few words about "northern" body care. While there is no place in the world I would rather live, there is no denying that life in Alaska can be tough on skin. Between the daunting winter temperatures and the seemingly never-ending wind in some areas, unprotected skin doesn't stand a chance of surviving unscathed. I realized this fact soon after arriving here several years ago - it's pretty hard to ignore flaky, itchy skin and chapped lips. This, and the fact that I was beginning to see the effects of that wonderful process called aging, renewed my quest for natural products that could really make a difference in the way my skin both looked and felt. Aurora Bar-ealis is the result of that quest. Although there are an abundance of skin care products to choose from today, a majority of them can be immediately eliminated from consideration if you feel, as I do, that you do not want to coat your skin with preservatives and other unnecessary chemicals. We are inundated with "foreign" substances all day long without having much choice in the matter, so why knowingly add to it by intentionally putting them right on our skin? It just isn't necessary. It has been my goal from the beginning to make products as simple and natural as possible - you will not find long lists of ingredients with unrecognizable names here. With an emphasis on the quality of the ingredients used, simplicity can produce wonderful things for your skin. I hope you enjoy your visit to our site and return often.
