Alaskan Wildflower
Bar
Alaska has been abundantly blessed
with a beautiful array of wildflowers. Two of the best known,
fireweed (Epilobium augustifolium) and prickly rose (Rosa acicularis)
have traditionally been prized by many native Alaskans for their
skin care, medicinal and nutritional properties.

Birch Sap Bar
Every spring, birch
sap is hand gathered in the Mat-Su Valley and delivered to sugar
shacks, much like those used for the processing of maple syrup
in the lower 48. The resulting syrup is used in the making of
unique culinary products. For this soap, I used the unprocessed,
pure birch sap, which creates wonderful lather. Scented with
natural wintergreen oil, also from birch trees.

Colony Bar
In 1935, as a "New Deal" project,
903 men, women & children were transported from the midwest
to the fertile lands of the Matanuska Valley to establish the
Matanuska Colony, later renamed Palmer, Alaska. This calendula
flower soap bar is dedicated to all of the colonists, but especially
to those hearty wives and mothers who brightened the early days
of the colony with their flower plantings, right alongside the
vegetable and grain crops that kept the colonists alive.

Fisherman's Secret
Bar
Bringing in the world renowned king salmon
and halibut of the Alaskan waters requires any advantage you
can find, and this soap may just provide the needed edge. Scented
with anise essential oil, it hides human scent, even on fishing
gear - the big ones will never know you're on the other end of
the line.

Halibut Cove Bar
Imagine living where your only access to the
outside world is by daily mailboat from Homer, Alaska. Ah, Halibut
Cove......with only a small artist colony in year round residence,
it is a haven for varied & abundant sealife. This kelp &
seaweed soap bar is in remembrance of my visit. Kelp is well
known for its ability to cleanse the body of impurities - we
think you'll like the way it makes your skin feel, too.

Homesteader
Bar
This soap bar is dedicated to the
hardy families who braved the harsh conditions and isolation
during the early settlement of Alaska to make homes where there
was only wilderness.
The scents of pure Alaskan honey and
sweetgrass combine to create a homey comfortable atmosphere -
"Home Sweet Home" no matter where you are.
After the wheat germ exfoliates dead skin cells, the honey moisturizes
your skin, leaving it feeling truly pampered.

Kodiak Brown Bar
Like the magnificent creatures these bars
are named after, each has it's own multi-hued coloring, ranging
from dark brown to light honey. The effect is further enhanced
with lavishly embedded chunks of our other soaps, giving each
bar a truly unique appearance. A skin nourishing treat for any
"bear" skin.
You get the best of everything our bars have
to offer. This is truly my favorite soap to take to the shower.

Pioneer Peach
Bar
At 6,398 feet, Pioneer Peak serves as a spectacular
backdrop for the farming community of Palmer, Alaska. From it's
summit can be seen the wide expanse of the Knik Glacier with
the Matanuska Valley below - a fitting reward for a climb to
the top.
Named for this favorite of peaks is this delightful peach soap
bar - what better treat to be waiting at the end of a hard climb.

Resurrection Bay
Bar
Inspired by the beautiful waters of Resurrection
Bay, this sea green soap has the wonderful scent of bay rum.
Reminiscent of an earlier era, this was a very popular men's
scent during the late 1800's and early 1900's. I like to think
that many of the goldseekers arrived with a bottle of bay rum
in their packs - winters could be long and baths few!

Spruce Needle
Bar
One of the most treasured of aromatic trees,
the spruce is a prominent feature of the Alaskan landscape. There
are actually three main species in Alaska - white, black and
Sitka Spruce, the state tree. Spruce oil, from the black spruce
tree, has the unique ability to be warming in the winter, and
cooling in the summer. Spruce needle infused water gives this
soap a beautiful caramel brown color. Scented with natural spruce
essential oil.
