In an ideal world, this entire section under Kodiak Steel would be an accurate and complete reflection of my nearly two decades of superhero gaming.  Unfortunately, for reasons of memory, contradiction and legal ownership issues, it cannot be.  However, I do want to give credit where credit is due for materials I have borrowed from others, published or otherwise, and to those who have inspired my own imagination.

First and foremost to my loving wife, Kristi.  Although she is not a gamer, she provides me with boundless love and support.  She listens to my ideas and stories far longer than any gamer would.

Ken Solo, for being a Real Role-Player and teaching me what the world ROLE in role-playing meant (geez, I was dense).  For the Challengers and never complaining every time the New Conquerors beat them to a pulp.  For enduring Cyborg and H.E.L.L. and then making something meaningful out of them when I finally grew out of my munchkinism.  And for being a good friend.

To Debbe McEwen and her husband Duncan, to Debbe's brother Bruce Loebrich and family friend Ralph Bowman for the awesome Marvel and Champions games from 1986 to 1992.  The Heroes Unlimited games were pretty good too.

To Mike Dunn and Ryan Timm for teaching me to play Dungeons ^ Dragons -- my first experience actually playing a RPG -- waaaay back in 1981.  If either of these guys had been munchkins, I think I would have been unsalvageable.

To Paul Leuttke and Chris Cherry for the hundreds of hours of non-sense from 1982 to 1989.

My current partners in Morpheus Unbound Judd and Scott, wherever the heck they are ;-)

To the gang at Albion for all they did and endured:  Paul "Metamorph" Keyser, Will Neumann, Bill "Amphibian" Louthan, Jeff Dickinson, Chuck Brewer, Judd "Flux" Baker, Finian "Dealthvolt" McGaffey, James "Psijock" Spencer, Chris "B.E.M.W.A.G." Brown, Jim "Rembrandt" Perry, John Gilmore, Louise "Ariel" Meilstrup.  I know I've forgotten someone.  If I didn't give someone a nickname that means s/he created many more than one character and I'll try to give proper credit as soon as I get things sorted out ;-)

The following items are borrowed from the Villains & Vigilantes RPG by Jeff Dee and Jack Herman:

  • C.H.E.S.S.
  • The Crushers
  • The Crusaders
  • The Destroyers
  • Intercrime
  • Motivator

A fellow named Anthony Pryor created the original Black Legion (which mine looks nothing like).

The following items are borrowed from the GURPS Supers / GURPS I.S.T. by Steve Jackson Games

  • The United Nations controlling Fusion Power

Those raving loons on the WebRPG V&V board.  You know who you are.

I discovered Champions from Hero Games in 1982 -- that was the original big blue box.  I've pirated a lot from them.

  • S.H.E.L.L. is a ripoff from PRIMUS
  • Intercrime borrows heavily from VIPER
