Four Winds Cast of Characters

This page is not really part of Gravity's diary, but this was the most logical place to put it.  I'm reviewing all the turns as time permits, and this is the list of named personalities -- powered and unpowered -- mentioned so far.   There were a couple people mentioned without names, and they have been skipped.

This list can never be quite complete, and of course I'll have to update it as the story continues to unfold.

As much as I'd like to take all the credit for this list (I did the original edition, of course), this current revision was pretty much written by Dan Harvey (Sound) and David Utter (the GM) with layout and editing by me.

Be sure to check out Dan Harvey's Plot Synopses Page for an overview of all the turns.  Once you're hooked, go and read the entire story!

Millennium

  • Fury (Jake Faulkner):  Until recently, he was a bail bondsman in the family business. He recently returned to college. He possesses superhuman strength, invulnerability and a very bad temper.
  • Magna Flux (Chase Ulrich):  A 17-year old boy with powers of magnetism which he uses as an arcing attack, create electro-static attraction between himself and things (like his ever handy skateboard), and to sense electromagnetic data (like when he "listens" to cassette tapes on the bus without headphones).
  • Nightcrawler (Carl de las Cruces):  Professional hockey player for the AHL, on injured reserve due to a knee injury.  Now has superhuman powers including a maleable mucous coating that allows him to become invisible, stretch and wall-climb.  He knee injury healed when he gained powers.
  • Phoenix (Amanda Halle):  Phoenix has superhuman speed, flame powers and wings. She can fly faster than Mach 1. In her civilian identity, she is a talented musician. Currently playing for the megastar rock group Red Sky Diary.
  • Sound (Josh Faulkner):  Sound control and manipulation powers, he can amplify existing sound into damaging attacks and has the ability to generate protective "walls of sound" as well as superhuman hearing and sonar. He is a musician at heart, he became a bail bondsman by inheriting the family business from his father.

Other Groups

  • Double Cs:  A local street gang keenly involved in the drug trade in Lexington.  Their primary color is blue.  It was the Purple Mask's goal to remove them from the picture, and it seems has succeeded in driving them all from the city.  This gang has apparently been completely disbanded since the Millennium members stopped a massive drug shipment; the operation also cost the Double Cs their main money launderer, Herschel Ellis.
  • Golden Killers:  Non-powered freelance assassins recently released from prison. Anything Chow Yun Fat can do they can do better.
  • The Luminaries:  Hi-tech terrorists that brought the Millennium together as a result of their attack on Mr. Bloomfield on New Year's Day.
  • Operation Panopticon:  Not really a group, per se, but rather a U.S. Government collaboration of military and civilian personnel for the containment and study of powered persons at the Blue Grass Army Depot.  The Depot is under the command of Colonel Ulrich.
  • Red Sky Diary (RSD):  World famous rock and roll band. Amanda Halle is recruited to play with them when one of the members is side-lined due to injuries.
  • Sigil:  A quartet of powered assassins hired by Sony to kill RSD before they can jump to a new record label.   Last known members were Fate, Entropy, War and Hunger.
  • Silvers: A family of drug dealers. Unfortunately for the Millennium they are powered and quite skilled in their abilities.
  • Sons of Chicago:  Another gang, the opposed the Double Cs for control of the city's West side. When the Millennium ended the Double C's reign in Lexington the Sons of Chicago took over. The Nightcrawler finds them less experienced than their predecessors. They favor camoflage colors.
  • S.O.R.T.:  Special Operations and Response Team.  A special unit of the Lexington Police Department.  Heavily armed and armored, they have military caliber training and equipment.

Other Powereds

  • America: Formerly Amanda's father Robert Halle. It appears his mind has been taken over by some dark being or has gone stark raving mad.
  • Blademorph: Clement Dodge is a career felon who has a long personal and professionbal history with Jake Faulkner.  After the "change" Dodge gained the ability to transform his arms into  sword-like blades.
  • Mr. Book:  Joshua Book. Died New Years Eve, but returned to life. Mystery man who "remembers" the future and can heal injured powered people.
  • Brickyard:  First name Andy.  Strongman of the team from Indianapolis.  He towers as 6'8" tall.  He and teammate Indigo have romantic feelings for each other.
  • Brother Mayhem:  Mysterious benefactor to the Purple Mask. He is a power broker and "fixer" on a massive scale.  He rigged the recent gubernatorial races in Minnesota.
  • Craftsman:  A gadgeteer who provided some kind of "supersuit" to America (q.v.)
  • Dominique:  Possesses some form of clairvoyance / retrocognition / hologram projection power. New friend of the Ulrich family.  Mr. Book says she is "important" but didn't explain why.
  • Eightball:  Formerly high school Coach Meyers until Chase Ulrich turned him in for dealing drugs.  Gained the power to throw objects at devastating speeds.
  • Element: A petty crook with the power to control the basic elements, he can move the earth, erupt firey attacks from the ground, and even control gravity to a degree. He seriously wounded Sound during a robbery attempt.  He is in custody by the CDC/FEMA and was "visited" by the Snowman during that powered's investigations.
  • Entropy [Sigil]:  Generates disintegration blasts from an ankh staff she can create on a whim. She managed to escape capture after the debacle at the RSD concert.
  • Fate [Sigil]:  Extra-sensory abilities and derringers.  He can absorb energy like a sponge.  Like his partner Entropy, he is also still loose.
  • Glassjack (Sir William Eric Paine) [Millennium]: Original member of the Millennium, but recalled to England to serve the Empire, Glassjack has limited teleportation powers and a number of devices. He is skilled in espionage.
  • Hunger [Sigil]:  Can drain power from his opponents.  In police custody for the moment.
  • Imp:  First name Elliott.  A short fellow with teleporation powers.  Member of the team from Indianapolis.
  • Indigo:  The female member of the team from Indianapolis. She and teammate Brickyard have romantic feelings for each other. She has demonstrated extraordinary agility and wields a "lightsaber" style weapon.
  • LaPlante: "The Plant Thing"  A bizare villian who can animate and manipulate plant life to do his bidding. He seemingly wanted to lay claim to the Dame Vera estate. He was defeated by the men of the Millennium group.
  • Martin, Harry:  Like Glassjack, Harry was very old before the change, but he is now a physically very young man with enhanced strength and agility.  The change also cured him of advanced Alzheimer's disease.  He was not pleased to discover how his daughter had spent his savings while he was incapacitated.
  • Morry, Lydia: A female mind-controller in league with the Purple Mask and the even more mysterious Brother Mayhem. Prior to New Years she worked at the same company as Mark Reinhard aka the Reflector.
  • Purple Mask: Former criminal Mark "Chance" McCain was empowered by treatmeants he received from Brother Mayhem. It is unclear what his abilities are but his machinations to be Lexington's crimelord seem to be at the heart of much of the Millennium's woes.
  • Reflector (Mark Reinhard):  Original member of the Millenium, Mark is an engineer who gained the power to reflect energy and matter away from him.  Hospitalized in a fight with the Purple Mask, and after his release decided that being a "hero" wasn't the way he wanted to spend his life. [His player dropped from the game.]
  • Seven:  A SORT officer. Consistently demonstrated "bad guy aura" and shares a visceral dislike of Fury.  He went on a murderous rampage in police headquarters killing two of his fellow officers.  His identity was revealed to be that of Jason Faulkner, the estranged cousin of Jake and Josh.  The Millennium discovered that it was likely that he did ths against his will under control of the Purple Mask via Lydia Morry.  Regardless, he has now gone underground to avoid persecution.  He has sullied the Faulkner family name with the area's law enforcement.
  • Shock: A lightning blaster who attempted to mug Amanda and Robert Halle on New Year's. He has since been found in the employ of the Purple Mask.  Currently he is in custody.
  • Silverknight: Immensely strong and certainly the most durable powered yet encountered by the Millennium. His siblings are Silverstar and Silverstream
  • Silverstar: A light-projecting flier with tremendous reserves of endurance.  His siblings are Silverknight and Silverstream.
  • Silverstream: Super-speed powers. She also is an effective team leader for her brothers Silverknight and Silverstar.
  • Snowman: A ruthless, psychopathic vigilante with ice and cold powers. He can numb a target's nervous system, effectively paralyzing the target as well as become icy mist.
  • Treble Man: A thief with the ability to multiply himself at least three   times over. He was soundly defeated by Glassjack and Teshin Said on New Year's Day. He was seen later in a dream Amanda had.
  • War [Sigil]: Demonstrated powerful blasts presumably from gauntlets seemingly bonded to his forearms. Taken into custody by SORT after an assassination attempt on members of RSD.
